Our Service Menu

  • General Dentistry

At Anokhi Dental we provide a wide range of dental services with a holistic approach. We believes that the best dentistry is that which has minimal impact on the body. This means being mindful of the treatments performed and the materials that are used.

  • Safer Mercury Amalgam Removal

Amalgam fillings are a mixture of silver, tin and copper that contains 50% mercury. These tooth-bearing metals were first used in the early 1800s as they're strong, cheap and easy to use — but it turns out these amalgams contain toxic heavy metal!

Studies show significant amounts released over lifetime following placement which may lead you down an unhealthy path if not taken care of quickly enough.

At Anokhi Dental, we follow guidelines that are laid out by the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology’s (IAOMT) SMART. Dr. Patel is also proud to be one of the few IAOMT accredited dentists in Australia.

This includes using safer practices when working with amalgam fillings, following strict safety procedures while also educating patients on risks associated with this type dental work in order to provide them peace-of-mind throughout their treatment process!

    The protocols include:

    • Use of a latex-free rubber dam, so that amalgam pieces and vapours are less likely to be ingested.

    • A separate air supply is provided over the nose in order to minimise inhalation of toxic mercury vapour.

    • Use of a DentAirVac vacuum system is designed specifically to remove and filter potentially toxic vapours away from the immediate breathing area of the patient, dentist and dental assistant.

    • A specific single use drill is used to shatter amalgam, minimising vapour release.

    • Maximum suction and irrigation with copious water spray are also applied. This keeps the temperature of the metal down.

    • Negative Ion Generators are fitted throughout the clinic to minimize mercury vapour in the clinic and air is ducted outside of the building rather than being re-circulated.

  • Holistic Gum Care

At Anokhi Dental, we place heavy emphasis on prevention and rely upon these four essentials to ensure that your wellbeing is covered from the inside out. Remember, a healthy mouth is the gateway to a healthy body.

  • Cosmetic Dentistry

At Anokhi Dental, we pride ourselves on providing patients with a wide range of cosmetic dental services that are all performed under one roof. From teeth whitening to veneers — we have you covered!

  • Teeth Whitening

We all want to brighten our smile, but the old saying "a little bit goes a long way" applies here. At Anokhi Dental we offer both in-chair whitening and home whitening options that will get you closer than ever before!

In just one appointment, you can have your teeth whiter than ever before! Our experienced hygienist will apply an activated whitening gel on the tooth for 7 minutes at a time until they reach their desired effect.

When you're looking to take the next step in your beauty routine, we offer Take Home Whitening. Using custom made trays that can be used at any time, our at-home whitening gels provide an easy way for consistent results on a slower timeline.

At Anokhi Dental, we'll examine your teeth and discuss the best ways to achieve a whiter smile, suited to your individual stage in your journey. This depends on many factors such as sensitivity of tooth tissue or severe discoloration; under supervision by our team, you can be rest assured that they are being whitened safely using high quality products which meet all Australian safety standards.

  • White Fillings

At Anokhi Dental, we use composite resins, otherwise known as white fillings, as well as ceramics as opposed to mercury amalgam. This is because these materials do not release the dangerous metal into your body when they decay or chip away.

We use high quality, fluoride-free and BPA free composite resins in our practice. The natural looking option for small to medium cavities is made of glass particles mixed with a durable resin matrix that’s bonded directly onto teeth — it looks great and lasts the distance.

Alternatively, ceramic restorations are made from zirconia and porcelain. Ceramics provide a stronger alternative to white fillings that can be used for extra support of your teeth, while they have been known as strong materials in dentistry due its durability with natural appearance which combines both strength along with beauty!

You might be wondering why we recommend ceramic restorations over composite resin. If you have heavy loading on one tooth, such as if it's a molar and there is extensive damage to your entire crown or even just part of the tooth that needs restoring, then our team will tell you about options for restoring teeth with beautiful natural aesthetics in mind. In these cases, we may recommend a ceramic inlay, onlay, veneer or crown.

  • Veneers

Veneers are a great way to improve your smile and protect against future damage. They can mask stained or discoloured teeth, close small gaps, cover and protect worn teeth and give you a whiter and brighter smile.

    • Veneers are a great way to change the appearance of your teeth. There's two main types, each with their own benefits and drawbacks. While composite resin is easy to apply in just one visit, it can stain easier so you'll need frequent touch-ups. Whereas porcelain requires two visits but lasts longer than its plastic counterpart!

  • Teeth Grinding and Clenching

You know that you're stressed when your mouth starts to grind and clench, but do you ever wonder why? There are many theories as to why people find themselves performing this action during sleep or waking hours. The most common reason for teeth-grinding is emotional stress; it's believed 10% of adults actually do the same thing in their dreams!

There are several factors that can cause teeth grinding (also known as Bruxism). These include emotional stress, sleep disorders like apnea and REM behavior disorder (RBD), tooth imbalance such as missing or crooked baby formulas may also lead to this unwanted habitude of grinding' away at your pearly whites!

Pain in the jaw, neck and shoulder is a sign that you may be grinding your teeth. This can lead to discomfort elsewhere on your body such as toothaches or sore ears from hearing loss due pain caused by tightness of muscles near them also called "TMJ", tenderness around your jaw, headaches or pressure along with other symptoms which will differ depending upon the person.

By fitting you with a custom made grinding splint, your teeth will be protected from damage. If it becomes necessary for more severe cases of TMJ or sleep disorders to be treated by an expert in this field then we'll refer you to a more specialised medical practitioner.

  • Tooth Replacement

The mission at Anokhi Dental is to help you retain your natural teeth in the healthiest condition for as long as possible. If a dental disease has rendered this impossible, we may need to remove any tooth so that it doesn't cause more damage and loss of function on top of what already exists!

Remember, it’s important to fill the gap where the tooth was to avoid:

    • Tipping and/or movement of surrounding teeth.

    • Changes in the bite.

    • TMJ (jaw joint) issues.

    • Over-eruption of the opposing tooth.

    • Compromised chewing and digestion.

    • Stress on other teeth to compensate for the missing tooth.

Where teeth are missing, we offer these options for filling the gap. Your dentist will help you choose the option that's best for your unique situation. We're here to answer all of those questions and more at your initial visit.

  • Dentures

When you lose one or more teeth, it can leave a huge gap in your smile. This is where dentures come into play!

A partial set of Duraflex Partial Dentures will fill the space left by lost crowns and bridges; they're comfortable to wear because their material stretching makes them easy on patients' gums as well — no metal clasps make this type less intimidating than full sets either which means people feel more at ease showing off their new smile.

When you get your complete or full denture, it's important to go back for refinements. Your dentist will schedule follow up and refinement appointments once the glue has set so that they can check on how things are going with placement of implant supporting structures. This way there won't be any major adjustments needed down the line!

  • Bridges

Bridges are the perfect solution for people who have lost their teeth due to lifestyle or accidents. They can be used in place of missing teeth, and will not show when done well!

A dental bridge is an effective way to fix gaps caused by tooth loss, as it's made up of two or more crowns that sit on either side where there should otherwise only exist space; these replacements feel just as real and look the part, too.

Making sure your teeth are in perfect health before getting any bridgework done is essential for its longevity.

It also helps if you allow at least six months following an extraction to put a bridge on top of the missing tooth so it has time to heal and become strong enough not only to hold weight, but prevent further issues with that particular area as well!

  • Implants

A dental implant is a tooth root replacement which is capped with a dental crown. The implant itself is a threaded post which is placed in the jawbone under the gums. This can be made of (titanium) metal or zirconia (ceramic).

The crown is ceramic and is screwed on top of the implant. An implant essentially looks and functions like a real tooth.

Implants are not removable like dentures and do not require cutting of natural teeth which is required for bridgework. For these reasons they are becoming an increasingly popular choice for replacing missing teeth.

We start by referring our patients to a specialist for placement of the implant and they return here, where we put in place any crowns or bridges.

  • Children's Dentistry

We're happy to welcome your little ones at Anokhi Dental.

We know how important it is that they have good memories when visiting the dentist and we want you to teach them from an early age about oral hygiene so no problems come up later on down the line!

As part of our initial consultation process, which can include just checking out teeth without any needful work being done, we'll create a foundation by making sure everything looks great now before moving onto more other treatments.

Preventive care is important for the health of your teeth and gums. A yearly check-up can help reinforce good dental habits, monitor changes as they occur over time with an aim towards preventing costly treatment down the road!

Regular check-ups will help reinforce good dental habits and prevent dental problems in the future, enabling your dentist to monitor the teeth as they grow in. We are happy to discuss preventative measures that you can put into place at home to avoid costly and invasive treatment in the future.

If dental treatment is required, your dentist will discuss the procedure and all materials to be used with you.

Your child will be shown the dentist’s tool and the procedure will be demonstrated outside of the mouth before commencing in order to minimise any anxiety.

    We will check for:

    • Good oral hygiene and dietary habits

    • Healthy gums and teeth

    • Healthy development of jaws and breathing patterns

  • Emergency Dental

If you have a dental emergency such as tooth pain or swelling we can help in the following ways:

    • Pain relief

    • Antibiotics

    • Temporary fillings/repairs, recementing crowns and bridges

    • Emergency root canal — this involves removal of the nerve in the tooth and placing of a medicament to provide pain relief. We are also available for follow up care and completion of your root canal treatment.
