Children’s Dentistry
At Anokhi Dental we warmly welcome children, ensuring their dental experience is gentle and positive from the moment they step through our doors.
We suggest that your child’s first dental visit be scheduled around the age of four, unless there are specific concerns prompting an earlier visit. This early introduction aims to acquaint them with the dental setting, creating a sense of comfort and familiarity with dental appointments from a young age.
Starting at the age of six, we recommend scheduling dental check-ups every six months. At this stage, permanent teeth begin to erupt as the baby teeth naturally loosen and fall out. Regular check-ups during this period are important for monitoring the transition from primary to permanent teeth.
During your child’s dental examination, we will assess:
Oral hygiene and dietary practices and give guidance on how to ensure both are optimal.
The health of the gums and teeth.
Growth and alignment of the jaws, teeth, and temporomandibular joints (TMJ’s). Early detection of issues like malocclusion enables timely intervention, such as orthodontic treatment
Breathing patterns, with particular attention to mouth breathing, as it can significantly affect jaw and dental development. Mouth breathing has been linked to issues such as narrow dental arches, teeth crowding, and dry mouth. Dry mouth increases the risk of dental decay and gum disease.
At Anokhi Dental, we provide dental treatments for children. If your child, however, is very young or requires more complex dental care, we will refer them to a paedodontist-a dentist who specialises in children’s dentistry.
Should your child require the expertise of an orthodontist, ENT surgeon, or any other specialist as part of their care, we are more than happy to provide you with a referral.
